In early May 2017, the House of Representatives passed a health care bill called the American Health Care Act, and with it some changes to existing legislation (known as the Affordable Care Act). Some of these include:
Limitless healthcare savings : Individuals can save as much as they can in a health savings account. Health insurance will also no longer be mandatory for everyone, and employers will no longer be required to provide cover for their employees. Medicaid cuts : Medicaid, a government-backed health insurance program for poorer citizens, will undergo a transformation, namely an expansion freeze in 2020. The bill also proposes to change how much the federal government contributes to the program. Insurance tax credits : The bill aims to provide refundable tax credits that individuals can use to purchase insurance. The credits will be based on various factors, including income and age.
